This is the best replica No4T that I have built. No expense was spared including the fitting of a new Bartlein barrel. This Mk1* was manufactured by Longbranch in 1942 and was part of the Italian contract. The rifles condition is outstanding with the rifle firing only 500rds since its rebuild. As a result the bore is nearly perfect, metal work is very good with 99% finish and matching numbers. Woodwork has been completely restored and bedded as part of the build. The replica No32 is the Canadian version and was supplied by SARCO Inc in the US.
Metal work is very good with no damage and blacking is 99%. Receiver markings are limited even for a No4 and consist of model, serial number, proof marks and inspectors stamps. There is no wear to the receiver and the bolt cycles smoothly without any excess movement. The rifle is fitted with a Mk1 rearsight and has been correctly modified for a T conversion
The bolt has been gauged for correct headspace and firing pin protrusion. Bolt face is excellent and unmarked, Bolt head is a No1 and together with the bolt body, have the customary proof marks. The bolt has the matching number with the receiver.
The barrel is a five groove Bartlein imported from the US and fitted by McKillop Engineering. The rifling is sharp, bright and the lead is clearly identifiable having only fired 500rds. The muzzle has been crowned and the foresight blade is an interference fit with a locking screw and all the metalwork retains its original finish.
The furniture is walnut and has been completely restored and correctly bedded. Woodwork is fitted correctly and nothing is loose. King screw has been replaced by the loop type and the rear sling swivel is the correct type for the 1903 sling. Butt is fitted with a brass butt plate, is standard size and has the traditional manufacturers markings.
The rifle is supplied with a 1903 sling, scope box and the sight adjusting tool.
